Nestled midway between the bustling Maroochydore CBD to the North and the thriving Mooloolaba to the south (both just 3km away), Alexandra Headland is a seaside suburb with a glorious coastline and a laid back beach side vibe. Along with a superb coastal sweep to the North, and bush foothills to the West, its main attractions include the gorgeous patrolled beach - popular with swimmers and surfers alike - the headland itself, along with parks and walking trails extending for kilometres North and South. Little wonder it is one of the most #instagrammable spots on the Sunshine Coast.
“Alex”, as it is known by the locals, has maintained it’s small-town charm, despite being just minutes from the major Sunshine Coast shopping centres and attractions.
The town features a growing selection of stores and eateries along Alexandra Parade (with plenty more options in neighbouring Maroochydore and Mooloolaba), and is within easy reach of major amenities such as the Sunshine Coast Hospital, the University of Sunshine Coast and Sunshine Coast Airport (all-around 10km away). The beautiful Headland Golf Course is just a few minutes drive from the beach.
It’s also on the route for the planned Sunshine Coast light rail line that will run between Caloundra to the south and Maroochydore to the North.
Given the proximity to the beach, the zoning in Alexandra Headland has a high proportion of medium-high density unit blocks, and this is the highest percentage in the suburb. From approximately 500m off the water, there are some beautiful homes, with a high proportion of these being newly built or renovated.
Removing the Sugar Coat
Like most locations on the Sunshine Coast that are within minutes to the golden sands, tourists can be a detriment along with short term letters. Whilst they add to the charm and character of the strip, noise pollution in the evening can be a concern if on the main strip. In saying this, it should be known that the demographic visiting the Sunny Coast and hotspots like Alex Headland are a little older and wiser - in comparison to its southern sibling, the Gold Coast.
It's important to understand the architecture and styles of homes in each region. Every region, and suburb, for that matter, has its own style. Not always to everyone's taste. So whilst you might fall in love with an area, you have to fall in love with the homes in the area.
Each carousel below shows the types of homes in each suburb we have hand-picked for this region.
